EUTHANASIA

BOON OR BANE ???????
To advance our topic of discussion to be more articulate, I want to start by broaching the case of Ms.Aruna Ramachandra Shanbaug.
She was a nurse from north karnataka who used to work in King Edward Memorial Hospital in Mumbai. On 27th nov. 1973, at the age of 25 she was sexually assaulted by a ward boy. He choked her with dog chain. The asphyxiation cut off oxygen supply to brain resulting in brain stem contusion, cervical cord injury and cortical blindness. She was bedridden and surviving like a vegetable since 37 yrs.

Now, Ms.Pinki Virani, a well known activist and journalist who was a friend to Aruna has filed a case for euthanasia on 17th dec. 2010.
Supreme court turned down the plea on 7th mar. 2011, that is day before Women's day and made its historical benchmark judgment but allowed passive euthanasia !!!!!!

Initially I read about her case in newspaper on our most hyped Women's day ( Lord save the day for such women...!!! ) .

It was way too melancholy.... Is it an understatement ????? WHATEVER !!!!!!!

Its a call for celebration for the justice done but how ironical that neither she herself nor people like her are in a state to do so.

No issues, we all can blow off the steam on their behalf.

They all can happily resume their accustomed fate which had been newly renewed.

Agreed that such legal issues are highly sensitive and susceptible to misuse and abuse. But euthanasia is neither homicide nor malicious.
It is a way to liberate people with never ending pain and with absolutely no hope.
It is to rescue them from their fate which is ensuring them to live their death, live only to welcome death and live till death....

That is all life and living have to do with them.

Why should we be afraid or anxious about misuse of law ?

Is it not forthrightly and shamelessly acknowledging our judiciary inefficiency ???

Why is it so difficult to make a law which cannot be broken or misused ?

Are common folk much more intelligent and smart than all our profound professionals behind judiciary system ?

And what is this about euthanasia being passive?

It includes withdrawing treatment or food that would allow the patient to survive.
Why can't a declaration be made unswervingly?

What right do we have to make such people to endure more pain ?

If euthanasia got to be executed, it better be active and as painless as possible, otherwise it shouldn't be allowed.
I'm unable to comprehend the sane reason behind this passivity.

I apologize to all her friends and well wishers who fought against the case and celebrated victory. Its an immensely touching fact and shows the beautiful side of humanity that a lady like her who was bedridden for 37 yrs, do not have a single bed sore !!!!!!
I bow my head with all respect possible to them.

But I feel that its an entirely different factor to feel pity and from living a life like that. If law could be enforced strictly, I vote for euthanasia any day !!!
